3RD SIX WEEKS BEGINS MONDAY

Monday will mark the beginning of the 3rd Six Weeks. Report cards will go out this week. Students who pass all classes will remain eligible until the end of the semester in mid-January. Students who have one or more failing grades will become ineligible on Friday, November 22.

LONESTAR CLASSIC DRUMLINE RESULTS

Congratulations on a job well done by the Stevens Drumline, last Saturday evening. The drumline placed ninth in the Open Class competition. Students were able to see some terrific drumline performances. I would like to thank Mr. Dominguez for his hard work and dedication in preparing these students for this prestigious contest. Our percussion specialists, Mr. Meriwether and Mr. Ruiz, also did a remarkable job with instruction and their efforts are very much appreciated.

--To all the parents who volunteered their time to chaperone and help with flight crew on the Dallas trip and throughout the extended football season. We don’t say it enough, but YOU have our deepest gratitude!
--To Mr. Turpin for writing a jazz grant. The Texas Association of Jazz Educators awarded the Stevens Jazz Ensemble a $250.00 grant to purchase music.
--To Mr. Turpin for writing a grant proposal for Grammy in the Schools. Stevens High School is one of 100 finalists and the only school representing San Antonio.
--To all the band students who maintained their eligibility.

Tuesday—no marching band rehearsal
Wednesday Morning—7:45-8:30—Full Band Rehearsal, Practice Field
Thursday Morning—7:45-8:30—Full Band Rehearsal, Practice Field
Friday Morning—7:45-8:30—Line-up and Pep Rally

JAZZ BAND SECTIONALS

Mr. Turpin has given a sectional schedule to students who are involved in the upcoming jazz band concert. The sectionals will take place this week after school. I will post the information on the website on Monday. The concert is scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, in the SHS auditorium.

BAND COUNCIL CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Band council members will decorate the band hall for the holiday season after school on Monday.

BAND POTLUCK SOCIAL
The band council is sponsoring a band social for eligible band members on Thursday evening beginning at 6:00 pm. Band members need to bring a covered dish to the social.
Beverages and water will be provided.

PEP RALLY THIS WEEK

There will be a pep rally on Friday morning. Students will need to wear “The Sound” shirt, jeans and tennis shoes on Friday.

SATURDAY PLAYOFF GAME DAY PROCEDURES

4:30 pm: Band Hall Opens--Show shirt, shorts, black socks and shoes are already on and make-up and jewelry are off.

5:00 pm: Warm-up begins, band practice field

5:30 pm: Rehearsal ends, report to uniform room and get dressed

6:00 pm: Inspection this week will be a test grade

6:15 pm: Board bus and depart for Alamodome

7:00 pm: Line-up, warm-up etc.

8:00 pm: Kick off v Westlake High School

10:30 ish: Board bus and return to Stevens.

11:30 pm: While this is an approximate time, directors do not want to have to wait on parents to pick up their children. Students should call parents while en route back to Stevens. Students on clean-up crew should also advise parents that their release time will be delayed 15-20 minutes.

Students on duty roster must see Mr. Turpin upon arrival back at Stevens for further instructions. Band hall will close 30 minutes after the last bus arrives at school.

PLAYOFF GAMES

The band will be an active participant at all football playoff games. Attendance at the games is required and although we do not know how long the playoff season will last, parents/students with previous engagements, during the November weekends, should notify Mr. Rubio as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

FEES:
Please send remaining band fees balance ASAP. Make checks payable to Stevens HS Band. Please write your child’s student ID and the following account number in the “memo” section. 2192.03
Parents and students may check their accounts on Charms. School Code is : JPSHSBAND, password is the student’s id.

TRIP DEPOSITS
A deposit of $9000.00 must be made to the festival company this week. Please send in your 1st and/or 2nd installment now. Make checks payable to Stevens HS Band. Please write your child’s student ID and the following account number in the “memo” section. 2196.50
